Winners of the club's first French Cup in 1979, Henri Michel and his team-mates went on to win Division 1 again in 1980, which would prove to be the last title for the French international, who left the Loire club two years later with no fewer than 532 league games played for Les Canaris, a record to beat! Another record set during this golden period for Nantes football was the 92-match unbeaten run at the Marcel Saupin stadium between 1976 and 1981.
